  1. Why join Peace Action of Central New York?
    When you join Peace Action CNY you become part of a proactive legislative movement that promotes peace, justice, human rights, the abolition of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction. Our local chapter is part of a network of national affiliates, including New York State Peace Action and National Peace Action, which constitutes the nation’s largest grassroots peace and justice organization.

    Since 1981, Peace Action CNY has worked to lobby for and educate citizens about the need for nuclear arms reduction and reordered federal spending priorities. Our goals are to rally legislative action and provide up-to-date information to Central New York. Peace Action CNY offers a structure for grassroots, legislative citizen action.

    We work to keep you informed through our monthly newsletter and the Rapid Action Network. This network enables members to respond quickly to important legislation issues by making phone calls or sending emails to our elected officials.

  2. Are my contributions tax-deductible?
    Peace Action of Central New York is a not-for-profit, 501(c)4 organization. Because of our actions to effective lobby our legislators to secure a safer and saner, more effective foreign policy, contributions to Peace Action of Central New York are not tax-deductible. Donations can be targeted to our tax deductible educational fund.

  3. How does my membership give Peace Action of Central New York political power?
    Through membership, Peace Action of Central New York is able, with the national network of affiliates, to put pressure on members of Congress. Imagine receiving calls, letters, and emails from nearly 50,000 people asking you to make decisions based on human rights and social justice. This leverage allows Peace Action of Central New York, along with our affiliates, the ability to swing key votes on critical legislation.

  4. How do I join?
    Peace Action is a grassroots organization. We rely on contributions and volunteer help from people like you to carry on our work. We urge you to support us by becoming a member.
    Go to the Join Us page and fill out the form with the required information, check new membership status and membership amount. There is an additional option of making your membership payment by mail or on line.
    If you choose payment by mail, on submit, your information will be formated into a printable form to be mailed in with your check or money order.
    If you choose on line payment, on submit, you will be transfered to a secure PayPal page to make your credit card payment.
    If you want to support our Legislative efforts make payment to "Peace Action of CNY". For your contribution to be tax-deductible, make payment to "Peace Action Education Fund."

  5. How do I become involved?
    Volunteers at Peace Action of Central New York play many key roles in activating our membership and escalating our success. You can help and support Peace Action through regular membership mailings, tabling at events, attend lectures and trainings, or help organize actions. No matter what your forte, we would love to have you!
